Twitter changed the welcome screen for new users. It's more of a tutorial now where they start by showing you what a "tweet" looks like.

If you've noticed on twitter's website, the long links that you share get counted towards the 140 character limit in a different way.

How does twitter calculate the long links towards 140 character quota?

They will count every link shared to be 20(21 for https) characters. So, it does not matter what the length of the link you are sharing is, it gets counted as 20 characters only.

Starting today, you will see the exact same behavior on Buffr as well. So go ahead, no more need to shorten URLs when you share them via buffr.

We just pushed a new feature to Buffr that helps you schedule tweets and posts. To start with the schedule posts feature is completely free!

Posts can be scheduled for any of the accounts you link on Buffr. Since we currently support twitter, facebook, facebook fan pages and linkedin, it means you can schedule a tweet, schedule posts for your facebook fan pages as well as have them posted to linkedin at the time you wish.

Scheduling a tweet or post is as simple as clicking the small calendar icon that you would see on our post window within buffr and then selecting the date and time.

You can change a timezone anytime you wish and it will not affect the previously scheduled posts. This is helpful if you manage multiple facebook fan pages and twitter accounts for different clients as they would have audiences in different timezones.

All your scheduled messages can be viewed at a single place and you can always edit or delete the posts. We take care of daylight savings time in any of the countries so you do not have to worry about that as well.

We've made schduling highly scalable and our infrastructure is all ready to handle any number of scheduled posts. So get started, be active on twitter all the time by scheduling posts so that they go out at the right time.

This is just version 1 of scheduled posts, we will be adding some more exciting and very useful features that will make it very easy for you to post tweets and updates to your fb fan pages 

Links shared on buffr appear beautifully on facebook! 

If you share a link, we make sure it appears with thumbnails on facebook rather than the plain old link that many of the third party apps currently display when they push your status updates to your facebook page.

Buffr now allows you to link multiple linkedin accounts so that you can easily manage your linkedin profile from within buffr along with twitter, facebook and facebook fan pages.

This release allows you to update your linkedin status and view all the network updates from your connections on linkedin. You can also “like” and “comment” on the linkedin updates of your connections from within buffr.

Buffr now supports Facebook Fan pages. You can add as many fan pages as you want and easily post to your fan page wall through buffr. You can also view your fan page wall within buffr.

This is just step 1 of our facebook fan page integration. It’s a work in progress, expect more features under fan pages.

Apart from facebook fan page support, we also added 2 new tabs under Facebook section namely ‘News Feed’ and ‘Wall’.

Today we open Buffr.com to everyone. We are still cooking up things, putting things in order. But we figured it would be nice to open up the product so that users who land on our homepage aren’t disappointed.

We’ve added the following new stuff on buffr : 

1. Status update length check (so that you know if your tweet is longer than 140)
2. ‘Show Conversation’ for twitter which helps you view a conversation thread
3. ‘Lists you follow’ so that you can see updates from twitter lists that you follow
4. In tweets, we’ve made the #tags clickable and URLs now display the destination instead of previous one where we simply showed t.co links

We just added twitter list support in buffr. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this because I’m a big fan of twitter lists. Lists help me keep a tab on updates related to various categories. But the problem with twitter lists is that with so many lists it was never easy keeping a tab on all of them.

Worry not! With buffr, you can add as many lists as you wish. Whenever there is a new update in a list, you would get a notification and you can jump right into the list to check the updates! 

What I’ve now done is made a new twitter list where I’ve added @techcrunch @newsycombinator @mashable @pluggdin and @hsindia to it. Whenever there is a new update from any of these sites, I would know it immediately!
